Re: Musichi

I also use MusiCHI. The last version (6.1) is from late 2017. I recently asked the developer if it was still under development and he said that it was and that a new version would be coming soon (though "soon" was several months ago). He said that it was a stable mature program that didn't need upda...

Re: Housename / Real author

If I recall (though it's been a while since I've encountered this problem), I usually used something similar to your first approach. I would list the "author" and use the role "Pseudonym" with the name of the real author on the next line with the role "Ghostwriter". Then, in the information dialog f...

Re: Going back to CATraxx?

Simple, though inelegant solution: Convert all of your DSF files to .mp3 (even a low bitrate for faster conversion), then scan the .mp3 files in CATraxx. Once the data is in, you can delete the .mp3 files. Or, better yet, I'm sure that someone on this forum can help you build a SQL query to change t...

Re: LastPlayed Field

Does the "Last Played" field get data from the CATraxx player? I know that you said you're not using that player, but if CATraxx updates the field when the player is used, then perhaps the quickest way to get the data you're looking for would be to play the track in the player, just long enough for ...

Re: LastPlayed Field

Why not use one of the custom date fields or even a checkbox field (checked when played)?

Re: What about iTunes?

iTunes is not a particularly good replacement. First, it's slow. Really slow. Did I mention slow? Second, like many Apple applications, it knows how you want to organize things and if you have a different idea, well, too bad. You can change the info in some fields, but it's not always easy. And did ...

Re: Other Book Cataloging Software

I use Calibre extensively for my eBooks (it is a terrific eBook manager) but it really serves a very different purpose than BookCAT. For two simple examples of how Calibre doesn't really serve as a substitute, consider: 1) Calibre has no function for keeping track of information about authors (beyon...

Azol:

I think that it's a requirement to fit into this community that you spend more time cataloging than listening.
