Community version of FNprg products

I remember having read somewhere that Fredrik was once asked if a community version of his programs was not possible because he was using some commercial libraries for controls (as far as I can remember). That being said, as I cannot see anything in the competition coming near to the ease of use of Cats software, I start to worry, probably like many of my fellow users, especially since Microsoft forces now the move to Windows 10 (where Cats work fine, thanks God AND Fredrik).
My question(s) are following:
- Would it be possible in a forthcoming version to "open" the internet DLL, which is the most "unstable" item due to the frequent changes in the various sites? This could reduce the amount of work needed by Fredrik to maintain it.
- Provided that the community develops substitutes for the third party software, would it be possible for Fredrik to consider offering to the community the opportunity to maintain these essential pieces of software that he so cleverly built over the years?

It also works flawlessly under Linux/Wine.

All in all, I would like to see a move in this direction. Any volunteers? :)

Well, I guess this would require Doug asking Fredrik if this could be a possible way to do things and hence extend the lifespan of both Fredrik's work and our data not to mention the customization for which there is no match on the market...

Me too.
The internet.dll is crucial to the application.
Surely Fredrik can't be the only one who knows how to manipulate this.

Resurrecting this topic since my CATVids Internet.dll has recently stopped downloading movie info again (TV episode info still downloads just fine). Last time this happened (last fall), there was eventually an updated Internet.dll file released and downloading worked again. I haven't made any PC changes so the error info saying "Protocol "https" not implemented" that stops the download at the Synopsis section is NOT what is causing the error. It has got to be some minor change done by IMDB (again).

I'd love to expand the pool of people able to maintain at least the Internet.dll file. I've sampled the potential replacements for CATVids and NOTHING comes close to the functionality it has ... plus the edits I've made to custom fields. I'd kick in some money since it would be better spent on great CATVids product instead of starting over with something else.
