Disheartened...

Post by George K » Wed Sep 09, 2015 11:08 pm

...is how I feel when I notice the shrinking number of CDs that are available for purchase. I've never been a digital music (MP3s, etc.) enthusiast, and I find myself purchasing used CDs through Amazon more often than not. I imagine that this is how the makers of buggy whips, wagon wheels, and so on must have felt.

I felt that way as new LPs faded. But all that used stuff is awesome!

I remember the LPs as well. I waited forever on CDs, after viewing bin after bin of "The Best of Trini Lopez" and the like, trying to decide if CDs would catch on.
I've had pretty good luck with used CDs, not so much with LPs--a lot of material has been removed from most by the chisels that people were using for styli (?). But I do enjoy that "vinyl warmth" of tone. I'm starting to sound more and more like my grandpa.
