Before the end of 2017 the board will be down for a brief period of time for an upgrade.
Past experience says less than 30 minutes but I can't predict the future.
Also, there is a high probability that the forum will move to a different host, but that will not happen in 2017.
Thanks,

9.48 bug or my error

Postby dak4482 » Sat Dec 10, 2016 6:48 am

Hi all.

Installed 9.48 and was so involved with my import problem (Thx ever so much Doug, you're a GOD) that I missed a problem. When doing an scan of my mp3's from the audio drop-down it no longer is picking up the song length when cataloging the file. I've tried every setting in the audio file options I can imagine and it just won't pick up the times. I prefer to read the info from the file name and not the id3 tags and have the "always (ignore tag)" bullet checked. Any ideas? Everything else - artist, title and Album title appear to be read correctly from the file name but its not picking up the length of the song. Was working fine before 9.48 unless I accidentally changed something but I really didnt have a reason to do so except for when i adjusted the "filename format' setting to match the filenames in that particular directory that was being scanned.. Any help?

Dan

Worked for me.
I did a scan on a test folder and was album to create a new album and the tracks did have the time.
I then zero'd the track times and detached the MPs.
So tracks should be as if you had manually entered them.
I then did an Attach Audio Files and the times came in with that.

I checked Audio settings and couldn't find one for the time value.

Are you attaching the files via the Album Form AUDIO > ATTACH AUDIO FILES or through the Album View?

I just tried the "attach audio files" command and it said unable to find any audio files. There's 84 mp3's in that directory

ok I tried one more thing, went back to 9.44 and erased all templates and started anew. Times come in fine. Installed 9.48 - no times. Went back to 9.44 - times showed up again. Dont think its a setting problem now.

Hi Dan,

I've been able to reproduce your results. The key is the "Always (ignore tag)" under Audio File Options: Tag/Filename Setup: Read information from folder/filename. When it is checked the track length is not read in v9.48. When "Never" is checked the track length is always read. Using v9.44 the track length times are read with either setting.

It's not ideal, but after scanning you could flip the option to "Never" and then go to each album and detach then immediately reattach the audio files. This will cause the track lengths to be read. Maybe Doug or others will have better ideas.
Cheers,
Dave

thx for figuring that out. Don't understand why they would change that but at least I know I'm not losing my mind hahaha.

Send an email to Fredrik ( support@fnprg.com ) with Dave's discovery. Maybe v9.49...

Instead of detach/attach operation you can use this method:

1) Tools - Audio File Options - Tag/Filename Setup, uncheck all options in Read:Update column
2) Now in album editing mode use Audio - Read from tag, it should read all the track times from audio files you have attached without messing with any other information.

Great suggestion Azol! I knew there must be a better way.
