Relationship on Artist Lookup Screen

Post by MSWallack » Tue Apr 21, 2020 8:06 pm

So I am (once again, it's bee a few years...) starting over from scratch. This time, I'm really trying to focus on better quality data and more focus on artists. One thing that I noted is that if I list several relations for a artist, they are displayed oddly in the Artist Lookup screen. So, for Billy Joel, that field shows as:

The Lost Souls The Hassles Attila

Note that there is no break between those relationships. When I used "Member" as a note for the relationship, I get:

The Lost Souls - Member The Hassles - Member Attila - Member

Does anyone know if this field can be changed to put a comma or any other delimeter between related artists?

On a similar note, is it possible to list band membership in the Artist Lookup table?

To the best of my knowledge, no. It would be great if it handled the display the same way as Artist does, via the Separator Multivalue Fields in TOOLS > OPTIONS > Miscellaneous.

Maybe a kind word to Fredrik?

No, And I think that would be more than a kind word to Fredrik. Explorer View would be your best bet.

I have the Artist Lookup Screen use the ArtistPerson explorer template instead of the default.

I like those screens, but I tend to mostly use the actual tables much more than the explorer views.

I sent him an email last week. He responded with an explanation for why I was having one problem (using full-size images instead of thumbnails), provided a workaround for another, and then this update today. Awesome. He provides better support, even after retiring the products, than most companies do for products they're still selling and developing.
