Help with ArtistPerson Template
Help with ArtistPerson Template
I have been attempting to modify a Discography section in the ArtistPerson template and have everything working except for displaying the Album Format correctly. I think this may be somehow related to a section where we are grouping the albums by FormatGroup.
I know on line 996 <xsl:value-of select="format"/> I can change format to other entries (status, catalognumber, etc.) and they show correctly. Only format gives me incorrect display (correct format, but additional data).
Attached is the full ArtistPerson template (which has borrowed many sections from others). Also, if I insert Dave's ArtistPersonDiscography template, which has similar code (but not the FormatGroup), the data reads correctly.
Note: I removed the attachment - it was calling other templates from Common.xsl, etc. and would not run on other's systems. See posting below for a download with those sections disabled to help with troubleshooting this issue.
I'm stuck - any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Help with ArtistPerson Template
For anyone who may be able to help, I have attached a new ArtistPerson_Tom_Modified.xsl as well as the correct Style Sheet (style-Tom) so you can actually see what I am seeing.
The original ArtistPerson_Tom.xsl was calling other templates, etc. that would make it difficult to run on another system.
Maybe having those areas inactive (commented out) and displaying with the proper style sheet will help in working on the "format" issue in the Discography table.
The attached zip file contains both the ArtistPerson_Tom_Modified and the style-tom templates.
Hope someone can figure this out.
Thanks very much!

(Original by Dave)

code to display "Format"
Code: Select all
<!-- codice by Alex Ivanovich -->
<td style="font-size:small">
<B>Format</B>
</td>
<!-- codice by Alex Ivanovich -->
Code: Select all

<td class="list_table_format" style="font-size:x-small;">

Re: Help with ArtistPerson Template
Alex,
I understand what you did - but I would really like to keep the items "grouped" by format, using "FormatGroup."
I know that the grouping is probably causing the issue with how the format data is being displayed. It is being read correctly, i.e., CD, Reel-to-Reel, LP, etc.
If you have time, take a look at the modified files I attached recently (ArtistPerson_Tom_Modified & the style-Tom).
Maybe Dave will see this and figure out how to keep the "Grouping" and "Format"
Thanks so much for your work on this!

Re: Help with ArtistPerson Template
Alex, Thanks for the help.
I'm not a progammer but to me it looks like my ArtistPerson_Tom_Modified is not only populating the actual "Format" but also all the data from the Format table -- Format, FormatID, Format, Sortby, and Format Group." See attached - lookup view Format.
Reel-to-Reel 20 Yes Reel-to-Reel Reel-to-Reel Reel-to-Reel 0
I, like you, hope Dave or others will see this and maybe give some guidance on the template.

Re: Help with ArtistPerson Template
I see the templates have been downloaded five times and a large number of views of this tread.
Any one come up with a solution or any idea what is causing the Format to not display correctly?
I'm at a total loss on this issue --- but I sure do like the Discography layout of this template and hate to abandon it.
Thanks

Re: Help with ArtistPerson Template
Thought I would bump this up and see if anyone has more ideas.
I see that the templates have been downloaded 14 times since they were posted.
Anyone with suggestions on why the Format is not displaying correctly, I would appreciate the help very much. It is being "grouped" correctly and the format is correct - just additional data showing.
Thanks

Change line 966 to:
Code: Select all
<xsl:value-of select="format/lookupdata/format"/>
