batch editing using Excel file?

Post by pacoinmass » Wed Nov 04, 2020 11:43 pm

Hi,

I'm in the process of cleaning up my tags on my music files and would like to synchronize certain fields. Does this process make sense:

1. Export CATraxx information for albums using Album Artist, Album Title, and then the fields I would like to synch/fix (e.g., Released, Reissue Date, Compilation, plus a few custom fields).

2. Make edits to the exported Excel file in step 1 (except no changes to Album Artist and Album Title...which I assume would serve as the key fields for CATraxx to assign each line in Excel to the relevant album in CATraxx).

3. Import the edited Excel file back into my CATraxx database.

Will this process update my existing CATraxx database, leaving all other fields unchanged?

Thanks in advance for help.

No, it would not work.
Use CATraxx for the editing. Use features like "Set Field Value" or "Search and Replace" for multiple records.
Do a search in Help for more info on these features.
